To my parents - poem
67
Beholding me in your lap
Feeding with your sweet fluid
Patting my head with love
You welcomed me to this wonderland;
You learned to sing those lullabies
You delighted me with stories
You filled my life with lots of joys
Oh! My lovey-dovey parents!!
When I tried to stand on my legs
Your unseen active hands all around
Watched and waved to protect me out
Not to fall and get wounded;
You showed me the daffodils
Took me near the chirping birds
To let me listen and talk to them
And dance along-with the mild-blowing wind;
I was taught to read and write
With your sweet voice and helping hands
Now that I’m grown up so big
Should I forget those past pretty days?
I’ll take care of your tender hands
Show you the way to lead your life
Not by sending to old-aged homes
But in my home of love and light!!

So lovely! It is very touching.
Thanks for SHARING:)
More people should think like you do. Sometimes it can't be helped, but far too often older people are simply "ware-housed" in nursing homes because their children can't be bothered with caring for them as they age. We owe much to our parents or the people who took care of us when we were young and helpless. Your poem is a shining example of payment in kind. Sharing this with others and voted up and beautiful.
Beautiful sentiments here.. Ha.. I just visited an oldage home and I wish more of us thought of our parents as the one's who made our lives what it is today. God bless you and your parents!
The reason we are here is because of our parents. This is beautiful piece of writing.
Cheers
very nice tribute, radhikasree!
Radhika, this is a beautiful poem. A great tribute to one's parents. I've always maintained that we must take care of our aged and frail parents when they need us most - in old age. We owe our existence and self worth to our parents and this is the least we can do for them.
Great poem. shared and voted up.
Such a tender heart--and with such great love contained therein! Beautiful!
